Recent events have created the need to clarify the relationship between the Robinvale Centenary Website, and the Robinvale Centenary Celebrations organising committee and its associated social media. I hope the following does this.
This website was set up January 2023 in response to the fact that Robinvale was to acknowledge its 100th anniversary in 2024, with a celebration organised by a local committee. Although it operates with a view to support the Centenary Committee, the website is an independent body, and all responsibility for its content rests with its founder, publisher and financier, Dianne Mann, of Block 30B Robinvale. (Contact details below.)
The goal of the website is to present our little town in as good, and as honest a light, as possible. But history is like an iceberg: for every bit that you see, there is so much unseen and unrecognised! We tend to see those who have ‘stood above the crowd’ for want of a better expression – but there are so many others whose stories are untold, who have for whatever reason, not thought their stories worth telling. This is just not the case. In the same way, there are so many interesting facts about how life actually was for many of the earliest Robinvaleites – from the earliest blockies and their young families who lived in tents or huts (if they were lucky), to the aboriginal people who were already here way before John Grant (1847) and his ilk arrived.
I take my best efforts to verify sources*, or seek approval where required, and write with empathy. If anyone has any issues with this Website content, I urge you to contact me directly and immediately to ensure that information is corrected, withdrawn or whatever appropriate action required, as soon as possible.
*Sources include newspapers of the time, archives, first person accounts, verifiable documents or websites – not random Google searches, or unverifiable sources!

Hi Di, thank you for all your hard work in putting this website together, you’re doing a fantastic job. Dad’s letter has been swallowed up by the other interesting articles and stories.
Cheers Sal
Thanks Sal, I hope to add some more pics to your Dad’s story when I get the time! Also categorising posts on the site so you can find stories more easily.
