The following is press release as provided by the Committee
The weekend of October 26 and 27 is fast approaching! Plans for the weekend, as well as the prior week, are finally beginning to come together.
Activities previously advised, for example the Patchwork and Seniors events, Robinvale College one-off, fully guided tour, Rural Life Museum and Euston/Robinvale Historical Society opening
hours are all unchanged.
For information regarding Wednesday’s Golf competition, please contact Doug Aikman on 0428 502 611. Doug will be able to provide details on the afternoon of golf.
Amended information about St. Mary’s School opening and St. Mary’s Church Mass times and venue will be advised once confirmed.
The news that there will be no Robinvale/Euston Cricket team this year is disappointing but it is still planned to have the Cricket Clubrooms open for inspection during the afternoon of Saturday October 26.
Friday’s Rotary Club Barbecue at the Cliffs is a definite “goer”. This is a pre-booked event, (please refer to booking details below).
The program for Friday night’s formal dinner at the Community Centre is: 5.00 p.m. Drinks and Nibbles in the Foyer; 6.00 p.m. Entertainment, featuring Cultural performances, in the Theatre;
7.00 p.m. Buffet Dinner in the main Hall. Cost for this event is $60.00 per head and pre-bookings are essential.
Morning tea at Robinswood on Sunday, from 10.00 a.m. until12 noon is also a pre-booked event.
Unfortunately, the anticipated Military fly-over cannot happen. Instead, the Committee has arranged for RAMAIR, based in Mildura, to fly over Robinvale (Caix Square) in their Tiger Moth at 12.00 noon. They will return to Robinvale Aerodrome to take anyone wishing to have a scenic flight over Robinvale in the Tiger Moth. Bookings for such flights will be directly through RAMAIR and further details will be provided at a later date.
Planting of the Centenary Tree and the short, commemorative Service at Robinvale/Euston Memorial Park will still take place, as previously advised.
The Committee would like any group, sporting club, School or individual who would like to be part of the Street Parade on Saturday morning, to contact Jack Dang (Committee Chairman – at Network House) or Bev Harbinson (Committee Secretary – at bharbins@bigpond.net.au) to advise us of your interest. Everyone, whether a large group or an individual, is encouraged to participate. Remember, this is a one-in-one-hundred-year event; it’s a once in a lifetime happening for Robinvale and everyone is invited and encouraged to be part of the celebrations.
If you would like to purchase a shirt (T-Shirt, Polo Top – your choice) complete with the Committee’s Centenary Logo (as above) you can do so at Work’N’Wear. John and his staff have our Logo and are ready to prepare your shirt. This can only be done directly with Work’N’Wear (38 Perrin Street); orders for shirts will not be taken by the Committee and we thank John and his Staff for their willingness to participate in this way.
To book for the events described above – Friday BBQ at “the Cliffs”; Friday dinner at the Community Centre, or morning tea at ‘Robinswood’, please ‘phone Network House – 03 5026 4128.
